Surely just an idle comment in an interview, and the media and social media alike have jumped on it and plastered it everywhere like it is a real thing?! I don't doubt Warner's ego sincerity in his comment, but surely, he said it knowing full well neither the selectors nor the are actually considering it.
Craig Serjeant. There was a talent (well, as much as I could perceive of a batting talent at age 7-9). He and Peter Toohey were two from the Packer years that I would love to have seen in an alternate universe where there was no split.
Also, if we are going to assume that the selectors will continue with their stated philosophy that 'we will pick the best six batters in the country' and worry about the batting order after that... who has ascended to number six with Green's unavailability? None of the current openers around the country, that would appear obvious. If it IS Josh Inglis, does he get the gig and handed a spot at the top of the order?
Just waiting to see if George Bailey and co. continue with this line of thought for the 1st Test...
Except that the former always involves your own misjudgement. Reckon I've done it three times in my life, and I remember each one - it feels self-emasculating.
am looking forward to getting a copy of The Football War from my local bookstore in Adelaide, my dad passed away in September (would have been 96 in November and was still going ok and was looking forward to it as well! - he grew up in Melbourne, and remembers that era clearly and as a South Melb fan was not happy when Laurie Nash went to the VFA).
Test comment.
And what do we make of Warner's offer to rejoin the Test side? Davey's form of humour with a side of his ego's not quite landed?

Bancroft sure has chosen the wrong time to make ten runs in four innings.
For those interested in more about VFL and VFA, check out two new songs from TISM on their latest album. Must be a revival of sorts.

Oh!!! Will "Indian Summers" be available for purchase out in North America, Gideon?
Unlikely, Sriram. But if you email me directly, I can try to help you out.
Being dismissed not offering a shot is bad, but being run out without facing a ball is worse.

It's an excellent book, Phil, and there's lot about Laurie.
