Gideon, that was absolutely beautiful. Your wordcraft (if there's such a word) is our gift as Cricket et al subscribers; and what a wonderful tribute from Stacky: "We’re all fortunate that we’ve known this magnificent man". Thank you.
Ok. So Redpath. When I was watching and wanting an opener in the 80s. Stacky did some work on channel 7 Sportsworld…….. but I had not heard of Redpath. The internet and general media had brought me to this attention. If….in his time you made a team of R top three……Redpath/Rowe/Richards. Not Barry but yes him too.
Thank you Gideon. Wonderful recounting. To me it feels like you were there on behalf of us on Cricket Et Al.
I’m pretty sure I saw Ian Redpath play in a Shield game in the first half of the 1960s. My Dad took me to the MCC Pavilion (on a “Lady’s Ticket”) for the first time. I was about 10. After an hour or two, I amused myself by exploring the 1906 Grey Smith stand. I think Redpath did okay!
And another great example of why I subscribe to cricket et al. Thank you Gideon.

Great insight, a man I wanted to but didn't meet.
Thanks for this Gideon. A mutual friend of Redders and mine summed him up best “He was simply a beautiful human being”
Beautiful Gideon.
As if we were there ... nice one Gideon.
What a beautiful tribute to a person - thank you Gideon.
Beautiful, Gid.
Well said GH, a really wonderful insight.

Brilliant mate. Every team needs a Redders.
Great to hear that Stacky is still up and about.
Vale Redders - Thanks, Gideon, for this thoughtful reflection.
Ian was my childhood hero, and I regret never having had the opportunity to have met him.
Thanks Gideon
Very nice GH
