Australia has won its first series in Sri Lanka since Nathan Lyon’s debut tour in 2011.
The visitors completed the 2-0 victory before noon on the fourth morning, knocking off the 75 runs for the loss of Travis Head (20) alone.
Marnus Labuschagne (26no) and Usman Khawaja (27no) did the necessaries and Marnus will be pleased to have survived the awkward little task.
Australia picked up the last two Sri Lankan wickets in the first hour, Matthew Kuhnemann (4-63) and Nathan Lyon (4-84)
While it was only two Tests, significance lay in the planning, selection and execution of said plans. Time on the special wickets in the UAE appears to have been used well and almost every selection move has paid off.
