Is Green going to have to be preserved / shielded from bowling if he’s to bat high? Or is he just more susceptible than some to getting worn down and broken by that horribly unnatural thing that which bowlers do to their body over and over again? Very few quick-bowling allrounders seem to have a peak of full contribution with bat and ball that lasts long before injury or burnout come along. But god it’s impressive while it lasts!

On more thing, that will be exciting is the race between Lyon and Ashwin.

Lyon has 530 wickets and Ashwin has 526 and three more tests to go against the kiwis and then 5 against each other

I fear the thought that Lyon will play host to extended rest time for bowlers is fraught W.D. His aging frame nearly upended Aust's quest in the last Ashes, Pete. Maybe it's time the selectors "bite the bullet". Get some new talent in. We fell off the cliff in 83/84 ... hit a pothole n 06/07/08. Does 24/25/26 get reflected upon in the same light?

It’s hasn’t been officially, but I’m assured scans have confirmed that it is a stress fracture.

Hardie looked very useful in the ODIs. I like him as a bolter.
