Celebrity takes many shapes. Sam Konstas brings the bling and clicks of the social-media generation, mugs for cameras, charges, sledges, scoops and seeks the spotlight. Scott Boland’s is another form altogether. Humble, almost apologetic about intruding on centre stage, he bowls a relentless, nagging, line and length, nothing flashy. This is one understudy who doesn’t seem to want his name on the billboard.
Even Boland, however, had to acknowledge the adoration of the Sydney members following another one of those Boland overs where another hat trick was a bees’ dick away. They rose as one in both the historic stands, they bowed melodramatically and yelled enthusiastically, in awe of his understated genius.
