At first reading I thought you were saying that Rob Key might be a candidate as head coach of Australia down the track after Andrew McDonald? Would Australian cricket ever accept an Englishman as coach?
I think Clarke was a tougher character than he looked.
Yeah nah, I don’t think Australians would accept an English coach. Shame really to be so nationalistic, I guess, but that’s the case and fair enough in a way.
McCullum’s mindset shift has helped in Tests I suppose, but have they just benefitted from bouncing off the most recent generational rock bottom English cricket enjoys?
White ball stuff going backwards.
Forced out the best seamer ever before his time was up on some pretext.
The bar was very low. England’s Test team was in an atrocious state when he took over. He appointed McCullum and they have turned it around significantly since in the Test stakes. I don’t know how you can say the England Test outfit of now is not a vast improvement on the one immediately preceding it and I think that’s down in part to Key driving significant change.
I can imagine the politics of such a role must be exhausting too, to be fair. A candidate’s vision must be quickly diluted by the competing interests they face once in the role.
Good for him putting his hand up and doing it too - easy to sit in the media box and moan with no accountability, I suppose.
‘Aussie’ Morne Morkel?
Sorry. Bit obscure. He lives in Sydney. Married to an Australian. RoZ Kelly.

Has Rob Key done loads of good things?

Pretty low bar isn’t it?

Fair do’s, thank you.
