I've only just discovered you can make comments on these podcasts. That's probably my gain but not necessarily yours Pete and Gideon.
What does Beautiful Waste mean in the context of this discussion?
I reckon your bookshelves would be a wonder to behold Gideon. Cricket books obviously, and business and music, but surprised to learn of your interest in maritime history and travel. Speaking of cricket, your shelves would not be complete without a history of the Monbulk CC. You obviously don't need another bloody book right now, but if you are ever overcome by the need to have a history of one of the founding clubs in the Dandenong ranges I reckon I can lean on the author for a freebie.
And I thought Pete's comment about the row of Wisden's looking like a layer of sediment was perfect. It got a guffaw from me if not from Mr Haigh.
In case you've not picked up on it, I choose a song as a title for each Cricket Et Al, and our excellent friend Evan Willis adds it to the Cricket Et Al playlist on Spotify.
Auberon Waugh also didn’t go on, I would argue

'Beautiful Waste', an epic Triffids track, came to mind in the context of the truncated lives of McComb, O'Connor and Phillipps.
