The Indian Premier League, whose eighteenth season commences this Sunday with the requisite entertainment extravaganza, doth bestride the world like a collosus; we other petty countries walk under its home-and-away legs and peep about. Cricket of any quality in the rest of the world is largely precluded. Sport of any other nature in India is almost out of the question. Nobody talks of a window for the IPL anymore; in some ways, it is international cricket, far less lucrative, that has the window - nine-months or so but under pressure all the time. And it is easier to talk of what’s not part of the IPL than what is.
