What would move one respected publication to opine about the “fading incidence of ethical behaviour in public life” on a gloomy Thursday morning?
Yeah, nah, it wasn’t that. We are not going down that manhole. In this case the matter on the editorial was the lifting of David Warner’s leadership ban.
I’m sure plenty of eloquent thought and space in the paper was devoted to that other matter, and I voice no criticism of the editorial decision making, but I do have this to say about the choice of subjects at this historical inflection point: David Warner is god’s gift to the news cycle. (Thanks to subscriber Brett Moorgas for alerting me to that particular item).
Good luck to Warner, almost everybody deserves a second chance - even if not everybody agrees.
