It doesn’t show any of the 2023 India v Aust series in India, which is mystifying, given all the prep the team went thru before the series. It would have been fascinating to see how australia planned to play spin in India and the aftermath in the dressing room of those few sessions of sweeping madness. There were big moments too - winning the 3rd test, the inclusion of Murphy and Kuhneman, Green’s century, etc…The camera crew goes with them on most tours, but one of the most anticipated series in a decade doesn’t get a look in?? How does one explain that?
Hey Vince, I've asked Cricket Australia the same question but haven't heard back. My suspicion is something to do with BCCI or Host broadcaster permission or rights. There's a moment in the latest series focusing on Todd Murphy - it references his debut in India, and they appear to use an AI generated image of the Australians singing the anthem ahead of that Test in India. It struck me as odd, but might provide a clue as to why there were restrictions around filming in India. Couldn't be clearer that this is speculation on my part.
Hey Sam, I reckon that’s probably right abt BCCI/Host broadcaster rights. It just seemed really odd to me. They could have still done a few things before ( the prep before India) and after the series when they weren’t in India that would’ve given some better insights into how things played out internally. I reckon they missed an opportunity there. It would be interesting to know what some of the players thoughts were on india.
Well said GH. I haven’t seen the 3rd series but the 2nd series didn’t grab me anywhere near as much as the first. I think the situation the team was in probably leant itself to a more interesting storyline in the first. Do you think CA has had more say in the final edit of the last two? Or maybe the production staff are almost part of the team now so they are protecting the image of their mates?
The absence of the Border Gavaskar Trophy from the series is quite telling..
Not really, given that the first series of The Test covered the BGT extensively.

Is there anything about Carey/Bairstow?
Just a bit!
