Backing self-interest is game theory, but I'm sure Gideon knows that. He just wanted to call Keating a cunt. Who could blame him!

A paraphrase, of course, of Keating's well-worn advice: 'Always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.' I'm just a little less patient with libertarianism.

I've been a fan of your work for a long time. I've never been under the misconception that you are a libertarian. I mean, what would Mark E. think?

Wonderful writing and analysis, Gideon, but lazy c*nts that we are, we’ve come to expect those. Now, to extrapolate my laziness to full torpor, I’d like you to outline what you reckon a realistic solution might look like.

Waugh does not seem to understand the corner that CSA was backed into by having private ownership of their T20 league. They do care about Test cricket. They didn't make any decision to not send their strongest team to NZ. They are not allowed to as per the contractual conditions they have with the franchises. The NZ tour is a once-off scheduling issue. CSA will be picking a full strength squad for their next 8 Tests (4 Series) in the next 12 months.

Test cricket is dying outside of the Big 3, but SA's tour of NZ is no defining moment.

Let’s hope SA can pick full strength sides from hereon.
